About this role
This is a permanent, full-time software development position in Queenstown, working Monday to Friday during standard office hours.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern framework.
- Design and query relational databases, and write migrations when the schema changes.
- Build and consume REST APIs and integrate with third-party services.
- Write automated tests for new and changed code and take part in code review.
- Investigate production issues, identify root causes and ship fixes.
- Work with business users to turn requirements into deliverable scope.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- At least two years of professional software development experience.
- Strong JavaScript or TypeScript, plus one backend language such as Node.js, Python or Java.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Git and a CI pipeline.
- Able to read unfamiliar code and explain technical trade-offs to non-technical colleagues.
- A portfolio, public repository or GitHub profile we can look at.
