About this role
This is a permanent, full-time senior engineering position in Serangoon, working Monday to Friday during standard office hours with occasional out-of-hours support during releases.
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services and the data model behind them, and document the decisions.
- Lead technical delivery for a feature area, breaking work down and reviewing what the team ships.
- Set and improve engineering practice for testing, code review, deployment and observability.
- Profile and tune slow paths, and resolve production incidents as the technical lead on call.
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through pairing, review and design sessions.
- Work with product and business stakeholders to shape scope and sequence before development starts.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience, including production ownership.
- Strong TypeScript, Java or Python, plus solid relational database and SQL design skills.
- Experience designing and operating REST APIs and at least one cloud platform.
- A working grasp of automated testing, CI/CD, containers and production monitoring.
- Able to explain and defend technical trade-offs to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
